Every once in a while, my Plex server restarts and fail to mount the NFS share again.
Error mounting /mnt/nfs-media: mount.nfs: requested NFS version or transport protocol is not supported
I’m certain that the NFS share is shared and available (since it was before the reboot).
How do I figure out what went wrong?
ssh into the Plex VM and ask it what shares are available on the NAS.
showmount -e my-nas-address.home
Well then, let’s
ssh into the NAS and take a look at the
nfs-server service and…
$ systemctl status nfs-server.service * nfs-server.service - NFS server and services Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/nfs-server.service; enabled; vendor preset: enabled) Active: failed (Result: exit-code) since Sun 2021-04-18 11:06:10 CEST; 6min ago Process: 804 ExecStartPre=/usr/sbin/exportfs -r (code=exited, status=1/FAILURE)
Doesn’t seem to be running. Even though I was super certain that it was.
$ sudo systemctl start nfs-server.service
Then back into the Plex VM and there all the mounts are.
I guess the moral of this story is - never assume stuff, always double-check it.
